Privacy policy
Foreword is built so that your story stays yours. This page says plainly what the app does with your information — and what it never does.
What we don't do
- No accounts. You never give us your name, email, or password.
- No analytics or tracking. The app contains no trackers, no advertising SDKs, and no third-party analytics.
- No selling or sharing of data. There is nothing to sell — we don't hold your data.
Where your content lives
Your story, pages, recordings, practice history, and settings are stored on your device and synced to your personal iCloud account, under Apple's protection. We operate no servers that store your content. Erasing the app's data (Settings → Start over) removes it from your device and your iCloud.
When content leaves your device
Three features send content, transiently, to service providers so a result can be made for you. In every case the content is used to produce the result and is not stored by us; it is never linked to your identity, because we don't have one for you.
- Voice weaving. When you ask for a loop or page in your voice, your voice sample and the text are sent through our relay to a speech provider (fal.ai) to render the audio. The result is cached on your device.
- Custom loops in studio voices. The text you write is sent through our relay to a speech provider (ElevenLabs) to render the audio.
- Line distillation. For the 369 practice, your story text is sent through our relay to a language-model provider (OpenAI) to compose your line.
Our relay adds rate limits and strips identifying headers; it stores nothing.
Microphone and speech recognition
The microphone is used only when you tap to record or dictate. Dictation uses Apple's on-device speech recognition where available. Recordings stay on your device unless you explicitly ask for a voice weave.
Purchases
Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details.
Children
Foreword is not directed at children under 13.
