Manifestation glossary

Plain-English, honest explanations of the methods and terms people search for — what each one is, how it's practiced, and an honest note on what it can and can't do. No hype.

What is the law of attraction? The law of attraction is the idea that where you put your attention and feeling shapes what you notice, pursue, and act on — so focusing on what you want makes you more likely to move toward it.

What is the law of assumption? The law of assumption is the idea that assuming the feeling of your wish already fulfilled — living as if it's already true — is what shifts your behavior and expectations toward it.

Who is Neville Goddard? Neville Goddard (1905–1972) was a spiritual teacher whose lectures on imagination and the "feeling of the wish fulfilled" became the foundation of the modern law of assumption.

What is SATS (state akin to sleep)? SATS, or "state akin to sleep," is the drowsy, half-awake state just before sleep that Neville Goddard used for imaginal work — briefly rehearsing a scene that implies your wish is already fulfilled.

What are robotic affirmations? Robotic affirmations are long, looping scripts of affirmations played on repeat — often in a steady, calm voice — so the words sink in through gentle, hands-free repetition rather than active effort.

What are subliminals (for manifesting)? Subliminals are audio tracks with affirmations mixed so quietly, or beneath music, that you can't consciously hear them — the idea being that your subconscious absorbs them.

What is the 555 method? The 555 method is a writing practice where you write one affirmation 55 times a day for 5 days in a row — a short, bounded ritual to keep a single desire front of mind.

What is the two cup method? The two cup method is a manifestation ritual using two cups — one labeled with your current situation, one with your desired situation — where you pour water from the first into the second to symbolize the shift.

What is the pillow method? The pillow method is a bedtime manifestation practice where you write your affirmation on a piece of paper, place it under your pillow, and sleep on it — using the calm before sleep to hold one intention.

What is the whisper method? The whisper method is a visualization practice where you imagine whispering an intention to a specific person or situation — often used to call in a connection or opportunity.

What is reality transurfing? Reality transurfing is a framework by Vadim Zeland describing reality as a field of possible "variations," where reducing your emotional over-attachment lets you glide toward the version of life you prefer.

What is lucky girl syndrome? Lucky girl syndrome is a social-media trend built on affirmations like "everything works out for me" — the practice of expecting things to go your way so you notice and act on good opportunities.

What is a vision board? A vision board is a collection of images and words — physical or digital — that represent what you want, kept somewhere you'll see it often so your goals stay in view.
